Delaware River Keeper/CRCQL Webinar Recap: The secret plan for a massive Liquified Natural Gas export facility on the Delaware River

On June 24, Delaware Riverkeeper and CRCQL held a webinar on the dangers of LNG and revealed findings from the Delaware Riverkeeper’s Right to Know Request.

During the webinar, we addressed rumors that state that the LNG plans have been dissolved and are no longer moving forward. However, what was found in the right to know request suggests that couldn’t be further from the truth. Eddystone officials and Penn America LNG have met from March 2025 to as recently as May 5, 2026. There have been state officials, such as state Sen. John Kane, D-9, Birmingham, and state Rep. Dave Delloso, D-162, of Ridley Park, that have also been involved in meetings with those interested in building such a facility.

These discussions began as early as 2021 with a target date of first shipments going out in the first quarter of 2028. However, it should be noted that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said it had no record of a permit application for such a project, something that had been targeted for 2023-24. But of course we know that doesn’t mean anything and that this facility can still happen. Especially if the community doesn’t stay involved.

This is where you come in and why it’s important that we keep the pressure up. These entities used to have their sights set on Chester before CRCQL became an overwhelming opposition to their cause. We need to do the same for Eddystone and all of Delaware County. Because if it affect our neighbor, then it affects us too.
