Reawakening 2026 at the Rotunda

On Friday, Aug 7th we held an event in collaboration with Bigga Dre at the Rotunda in Philadelphia. This dynamic all age community event brought together individuals from all over the city to engage in meaningful dialogue centered around environmental justice and the “Stop Trashing Our Air Act“.

Voices from the community took the stage to speak about the urgent need to support the “Stop Trashing Our Act.” This piece of legislation aims to improve air quality in the Philadelphia region by preventing the city from sending its trash to Reworld for incineration—a practice that has detrimental effects on residents in both Chester and Philadelphia.

A significant highlight was the screening of the impactful documentary “Laid to Waste,” which features CRCQL members and sheds light on the environmental and health consequences of incineration in Chester. The film was a powerful catalyst for discussion, prompting attendees to reflect on the environmental challenges faced by communities and the steps needed to address them.

This event also proudly featured cultural vendors and provided a platform for local Black-owned businesses to showcase their products and services. This support was a vital component of the gathering, underscoring the importance of economic empowerment within the community.
