Honoring Women Making a Difference in the City of Chester

On December 22, 2025, the Chester City Council hosted a special meeting in the Council Chambers in Chester, Pennsylvania. This gathering was dedicated to honoring the remarkable women who have made significant contributions to our community. Through their dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment, these women have helped shape the future of Chester for the better. Among the honorees was our chairperson, Zulene Mayfield. She was honored for her environmental justice advocacy and her pivotal role in CRCQL.

Among the other honorees were Patricia DeMirenda, Chanel Emmens Chaney, Twyla Simpkins, and Catrina Jacobs. In addition to these inspirational women, they also acknowledged the spouses of some of Chester’s public officials. These individuals play a crucial behind-the-scenes role, enabling their partners to serve our community.

This meeting was not only a celebration of past achievements but also a call to action. Zulene Mayfield encouraged everyone to continue striving for progress and to be active participants in the community’s growth. She emphasized that everyone has a role to play in making Chester a better place for future generations.
