Germany Representative Lisa Badum writes against LNG
German Parliament Member and Chair of the Subcommittee on International Climate and Energy Policy Lisa Badum recently published a critique of LNG in the Beaumont Enterprise. Rep. Badum has been a supporter of CRCQL and advocate against LNG, which she has fought internationally, calling for the U.S. government to secure the current LNG-permit pause as a permanent policy. In her piece, she names the global implications of energy trade and clarifies that the idea of European dependence on American fossil fuels is a lie:
“Big Oil executives want you to believe that President Joe Biden’s decision to pause all new LNG projects is hurting America’s allies around the globe. Take it directly from your allies: this is not true! LNG is expensive, harmful and we do not need more of it than we’re already getting. Not only does the President’s LNG pause have my full support – I believe he should make it permanent.”
Her article also outlines more of the dangers and costs of LNG, such as methane leaks, wasted federal funds, climate destruction, and environmental racism. You can read the full article here.
