Landfill vs Incinerator
This report was created for Gauthier’s office. This data was pulled from the DEP site emissions reports and simply averaged over the number of years available.
While most people can debate and disagree on the relative climate consequences of 1.2 billion pounds per year of CO2 vs. the methane emissions from the Fairless landfill, on all other points of comparison, the incinerator loses. The case for particulate matter is especially damning. Condensable particulate matter is even smaller than PM2.5 and is terrible for our health because it passes so easily into our bloodstream and bodily tissues. In addition, the comparative information here is presented as conservatively as possible.
